Trip Planning - Andamans
Before I travel to a place, any place, I usually spend a significant time planning for it. Mostly it’s online research and lot of Googling but at times it’s also about speaking to people I know who have been to that place before. If am going somewhere, which is slightly lesser known then this process becomes more challenging but with Andamans it’s hardly the case. I have found tons of info online, and a lot of my friends have already been there… So, this was relatively easy to plan.
Also, this would be more of a vacation with the wife than a photo expedition. Will keep it nice and easy and am afraid it is going to be touristy! Though I have a found a few offbeat places but photography-wise am skeptical…
Anyway, here’s what my tentative itinerary looks like:
Day 1: Port Blair + Sightseeing (Night stay at Port Blair)
Day 2: Port Blair to Havelock + Radhanagar + Elephanta (Night stay at Havelock)
Day 3: Explore Havelock + Neil / Barren Island (Night Stay at Havelock)
Day 4: Return from Havelock - Port Blair (Night stay at Port Blair)
Day 5: Port Blair to Rangat via Baratang (Night stay at Rangat)
Day 6: Rangat to Diglipur + Ross & Smith Island (Night stay at Diglipur)
Day 7: Return from Diglipur to Port Blair (Night Stay at Port Blair)
Day 8: Port Blair to Mumbai
Andaman and Nicobar Islands
This will be my first trip to Andaman. It’s always a good idea to touch upon all the recommended places. Then one can always go deep in their next trip. I’ll be visiting South, Middle and North Andamans and I guess this itinerary would give me an overview of the place. The orange circles on the above map are my target areas…
Found this website to be a treasure-trove of information about Andaman and Nicobar Islands do check it out, before you plan your visit. Now, coming to things that am looking forward to. Not sure if all these will be possible, but a wish list none the less!
Sunrise: Corbyn's Cove Beach & all the beaches where I plan to stay overnight
Sunset: Chidiatapu, Havelock, Laxmanpur Beach (Rock formations Neil Island), Ross & Smith Island
Nature Walks: Chidiya Tapu, Kalapahad, Radhanagar to Elephanta Beach, Saddle Peak
Scuba Diving: Havelock, Neil island
Para Sailing: Havelock
Will keep this one brief. More about it when am back, and hopefully will have a few photographs to share!
